| Position Description: | Under the direction of the Health Officer, supervises staff in health promotion and communications, serves as Public Information Officer and media liaison for regular operations and in times of emergency; establishes and conducts a comprehensive marketing and public relations program for the Health Department; guides staff in the strategic planning process in the Health Department, develops and strengthens relationships with community partners; develops special projects and oversees program development; performs related duties as required. |
| Minimum Requirements: | Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field, and five to seven years experience in media relations required. Knowledge of public health, program development, public relations, and marketing principles. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others through presentations and discussions. Skills in leadership, management, and supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate successfully. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of marketing and communications principals. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including internal staff, community partners, and local and state public and private agencies. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Must possess valid Michigan Driver's license and satisfactory driving record. |
