Family Court
As a result of legislation in 1996, the Family Division of the Circuit Court was created. It became effective on January 1, 1998.
The Probate Court, who has concurred jurisdiction with the 10th Judicial Circuit Court, is assigned all newly filed paternity, support, URESCA, and person protection cases.
Our docket now is devoted to Family Court on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Mondays are scheduled for paternity, support, parenting time, defaults and de-novo hearings. Thursdays and Fridays are person protection order days, trial days and custody trial hearings.
Violators of personal protection orders are arraigned and tried throughout the week.
