Inmate Funds
The Saginaw County Jail establishes Inmate Trust Accounts for every inmate incarcerated. Funds are obtained from the inmate at the time of incarceration or through monies sent to the jail through the mail or drop box in the form of a money order. Inmates are allowed to use these funds to purchase items from the jail commissary, for jail services such as hair cuts, medical or dental care and pay bonds/fees to the courts.
Monies can also be extracted from the inmate trust accounts for the following, without consent of the inmate, by the Saginaw County Jail:
Training Fee/Booking Fee - $12.00
Medical Fees Owed
Jail Property Damage
Money orders must have the inmate's full name along with the IB/PIN number if known. There will be a $2.00 fee deducted per money order for an administrative processing fee.
Money orders mailed into the inmates must be addressed to:
Inmate Trust Account Administrator
Saginaw County Jail
208 S. Harrison
Saginaw, MI 48602
Money orders dropped off to the jail and placed into the red drop box located at the Intake Entrance. money orders should NOT be placed in an envelope.
A Kiosk is available for use and is located at the entrance to visitation where friends and family can deposit cash or use their credit card to deposit monies into an inmate's account. There is a $2.00 administrative fee for each transaction as well with this Kiosk.
Once an inmate is released from jail any monies left in the inmates account will be reimbursed to the inmate in the form of a check.
Inmate Commissary
Inmates have the option to purchase commissary, as long as they have funds in their inmate trust accounts, from Canteen Services who also provide the meals at the Saginaw County Jail.
Inmates can select items for purchase from a menu provided to them in the form of a bubble sheet. The inmates are allowed to order twice a week.
The commissary orders arrive in a clear plastic bag and are delivered to the inmate by Corrections Staff. The inmate receiving the commissary order is required to inspect the order to assure the order is correct before opening the bag. Once the bag is opened the inmate is now responsible for the order and cannot refuse the contents or dispute the order.
Disputes with commissary orders are directed to Canteen Services prior to opening the bag.
Friends and family can also order commissary packages from Canteen Services by accessing the website http://www.mycarepack.com/ This web site features packages of commissary that can be purchased on line and then delivered to the inmate at the Saginaw County Jail.
Inmates are also allowed to purchase phone cards through Canteen Commissary which will allow them to call cell phones instead of calling collect. The phone cards can be purchased in $10.00, $25.00 and $50.00 amounts. There is also a small administrative fee for the ordering/purchase of the phone cards.
