
The
Support Divisions of the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office is an
organization of appointed volunteer deputies who function in
a support status, by order of the Sheriff, to provide trained
personnel to be a second person in a patrol unit assisting the
full time display.
The
Support Division assignments include VIP protection, parade traffic
control, security at community functions, fingerprinting of children,
to serve in time of emergency, disaster and civil disorder. The
Support Division also performs funeral escorts, prisoner transports,
assist other Support Divisions and any other special details
requested or assigned by the Sheriff.

The
Aviation Division of the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office
is an organization of appointed volunteer deputies who
function in a support status, by order of the Sheriff, to provide
Aviation oriented services to the citizens of Saginaw County.
The Division serves to augment the Sheriff Department's operations,
providing aviation-oriented services, at the direction of the
Sheriff.
The
Aviation Division may also serve in times of emergency, disaster,
civil disorder or community need, as directed by the Sheriff.
The Aviation Division may provide such aviation-oriented
services and rescue, marijuana eradication, surveillance, traffic
observation, transportation and security during public
functions.
The
Division is composed of two (2) groups: Mission Pilots and
Reserve Pilots or Student Pilots.

Mission
Pilot: to be qualified as a Mission Pilot,
the member must be a licensed active pilot who holds
a minimum
license of Private Pilot and Single Engine Land rating
and must
be current status as defined by FAR. Mission Pilots
are qualified to carry out flight missions as directed
by the Sheriff, Support Unit Captain, or the Lieutenant
of the Aviation Division. The Mission Pilot will be
Pilot in Command of the Aircraft. The Mission Pilot,
as Pilot in Command, shall have complete responsibility
and authority regarding all aspects of the Flight Mission.
A competent Co-Pilot will assist the Pilot in Command
when factors of the flight, in the opinion of the Pilot
of Command, Sheriff, Support Unit Captain or Lieutenant
requires such services.

Reserve
Pilot: to be qualified as a Reserve Pilot, the member
must be a licensed pilot who is not current under the
provisions of the FAR's, or Student Pilot. Reserve
Pilots may serve as Pilot Assistant, directed by the
Support Unit Captain, the Lieutenant of the Aviation
Division and the concurrence of the Mission Pilot.

Emergency
Response
Division
|
The
Saginaw County Emergency Response Division is an organization
of appointed volunteer deputies who function in a support
status, by order of the Sheriff, to provide emergency response
oriented services to the citizens of Saginaw County. The Division
serves to augment the Sheriff Department's operations,
providing ground search and rescues, security/lighting
at crime scenes and traffic accident scenes.
The
Emergency Response Division may also serve in times of disasters,
civil disorder, or community need, as directed by the Sheriff.
The Division may provide assistance in marijuana eradication,
support to the other Divisions, and security during public
functions.
The
Emergency Response Division maintains a command vehicle,
emergency response vehicle, and two (2) ORVs. The team
is responsible for maintaining and keeping in a state of readiness,
all of its equipment.

Handicap
& Civil Division
|
The
Handicap & Civil Division is composed of two units: the Handicap
Division and a Civil Patrol Division.

Handicap
Division: enforce the state laws and Saginaw County
Ordinance pertaining to handicapped parking areas and
fire lanes in Saginaw County.

Civil
Patrol Division: delivers papers from Saginaw
County or any out of county courts, banks, attorneys,
or private
individuals. The papers consist of subpoenas, summons,
complaints, small claims court, foreclosures, personal
protection orders, and alternate services and property
tax notices. This Division also performs funeral escorts,
prisoner transports, and any other duties requested
by the Sheriff or his designee.

The
Saginaw County Marine Division is composed of two units:
each headed by a Sergeant. There is a Marine Patrol and
a Dive Team. Either unit may be called on to provide mutual
aid to other counties upon their request and with the approval
of the Sheriff, Shift Commander or Marine Division Lieutenant.

Marine
Patrol: to educate the citizens of Saginaw
County in boating safety and basic laws of the waterways.
To
perform inspections of rental water craft for parks
and marinas
in the county and to issue appropriate permits. To
investigate permits for special events on the county's
waterways and make recommendations on issuing the required
permits for same. To patrol the waters of Saginaw County,
making watercraft safety inspections and checking for
required safety equipment. To enforce watercraft laws
when necessary and to assist in investigations as required.
The patrol is responsible for maintaining and keeping
in a state of readiness all of its equipment.

Dive
Team: the Dive Team shall perform rescue or recovery
work within the limits of the teams ability and training.
Further the team shall assist in patrolling and acting
as safety personnel with the Marine Patrol. The team
will also assist other agencies as requested in education
of water rescue and recovery techniques. The team is
responsible for maintaining and keeping in a state
of readiness all of its equipment.

The
Saginaw County Posse Division is an organization of appointed
volunteer deputies who function in a support status, by order
of the Sheriff, to provide mounted emergency response oriented
services to the citizens of Saginaw County. The Division
serves to augment the Sheriff Department's operations.
The
Sheriff Posse is best known for its high profile in parades,
but the Posse provides mounted search & rescue, marijuana
eradication, and security at community functions. The Posse
may also serve in times of disasters & civil disorder,
as directed by the Sheriff. The Posse is responsible for
maintaining and
keeping a state of readiness of their horses and related equipment.

Chaplain/Victims
Advocate Division
|
The
Saginaw County Sheriff's Office Chaplain/Victims Advocates
Division is comprised of Volunteer Chaplains and Civilian
Personnel. The goal of the Office of the Sheriff is to
provide qualified individuals (Chaplain and Victim Advocates)
to respond to Critical Incident Traumas as directed by
the Office of the Sheriff.
The
Critical Incident may be a sudden death or life threatening
situation. The Chaplain/Victims Advocates are available
to provide emotional, spiritual guidance and assistance in
time of personal or collective crises of Saginaw County.
The Chaplains/Victims Advocates will also provide department
personnel with the appropriate professional assistance to maintain
their emotional and physical well-being.
