DISTRICT COURT UPDATE
Summons Article, March 2004

Did you know that District Court has a web site?  Neither did I.  It is hidden at www.saginawcounty.com under “Court Traffic Division” within the menu for District Court (and beware, what little information is available is not necessarily current).

Clearly, we have a challenge to bring our court current with existing technology.  Other courts (in Michigan and beyond) have both feet solidly in the 21st century and the six Saginaw County District Judges are committed to also move in that direction.

In this regard, Chief Judge Tarrant has volunteered Judge Christopher Boyd to take the lead in this substantial undertaking; and he is actively seeking your input.

What content would you like to see addressed?  For example, the Washtenaw County Trial Court has established an award winning web site (www.co.washtenaw.mi.us/DEPTS/COURTS/INDEX.HTM) that includes weekly court docket information and current traffic violation fee schedules (they even allow on-line payment of fines and costs).

Depending on financial and time constraints, our “next generation” web page may be more or less ambitious.  But if it can used as a vehicle to enhance our service to the public (attorneys and lay people alike), your District Judges feel it is worth the effort.

Please direct your comments by phone (790-5368), by fax (790-5589) or in person to Judge Boyd at your earliest convenience.
