The Saginaw County Jail offers a program which is an alternative to incarceration. The program is called P.L.U.S.
(Prisoners Leave Under Supervision) which is a tether program that allows a sentenced inmate to serve their incarceration
period at a residence rather than in jail.
The sentencing judge must agree that the inmate may participate in the program but the following rules and fees apply:
- You will be required to pay $12.00 per day with the first week paid in advance to participate in the program.
- You must have a phone (land line) without specials on the phone.
- You are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs while on the program.
- You will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
- You will be charged for the drug and alcohol testing.
- You will not be allowed to leave the residence where the tether unit is located unless allowed to do so by court order or by permission
of the PLUS Personnel.
- You will be electronically monitored 24/7 by the tether unit and transmitter which is placed on your ankle.
- You may be charged monetary fees to cover replacement costs for deliberately damaging/tampering with tether equipment.
- PLUS Deputies must be allowed entry into the residence you are staying at to conduct drug and alcohol testing at anytime.
- Those found in violation of the PLUS Rules may be picked up and placed back into the jail at anytime once the violation occurs.
- Acceptance into the program will also be based on the availability of tether units.
