Undersheriff,
Arnold J. Burns, graduated from the
Northeastern Police Academy in April of 1973 and
has served as a law enforcement officer for over
33 years. He started his law enforcement career
with the Saginaw City Police Department and during
his 25 years of service there, worked his way up
through the ranks retiring as a Deputy Chief. During
his career with the Saginaw City Police, Burns
was a road patrol officer, detective, undercover
narcotics officer, emergency services team (SWAT)
member, a road supervisor and an administrator.
Burns also served as Acting Police Chief for 5
months. |

After
retiring from the Saginaw City Police, Burns served as
a narcotics investigator attached to the Saginaw County
Metro Narcotics Unit and was then appointed Undersheriff
for the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office in December of 1998.
Burns continues to serve the Saginaw County community as
Undersheriff.
Undersheriff
Burns graduated from the FBI National Academy in March
of 1992 and from the United States Secret Service Executive
Protection School in May of 1993. He graduated from the
Law Enforcement Executive Development School in Quantico,
Virginia in January of 2005. Undersheriff Burns is a member
of the FBI National Academy Associates and has served on
the state board of the Michigan Chapter of the FBI National
Academy Associates, serving as state president in 1999.
Burns is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge
105 and a past president. Burns is a member of the Michigan
Sheriff's Association, the National Sheriff's Association,
the American Jail Association, the Michigan Association
of Chiefs of Police, Police Chiefs Association of Saginaw
County, Saginaw County Law Enforcement Association and
the Deputy Sheriff's Association.
Undersheriff
Burns enjoys the outdoors and is an avid hunter. He is a
member of the National Rifle Association, a life member
of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and life member of
the North American Hunting Club.
